After HTML...

#104, just like #103, will save you from all the cheem talks of making webpages. I guess I don’t have to say much here.

I don’t know why but this book seems to be in better physical condition than #103 hahahahaha. If I’m not wrong this book has no highlights – hope I didn’t miss any page.

This is going at $17!

Learn what it takes to create a webpage

#103 would be ideal for those who are just tired of all the jargon and gobbledygook used in the online tutorials of HTML. This book explains everything in rather simple English. It’s one of those books you can start with if you’re having minimal knowledge about creating webpages. If you are rather advanced, this may be a good reference book!

It may look a tad too thin for $17, but the book itself is originally quite expensive. So I guess a $10 drop is really a good deal. I’m willing to sell it at such a low price because it’s not really in very good condition (with worn out edges, especially the cover) and also because there are some yellow highlights around on the first few pages.

This is probably why I can’t bear to part with the book:

Really cool illustrations

Oh yeah they have source codes at www.ineasysteps.com for you to use as resources when using the book. Isn’t that cool!? The book will refer you to different source codes for you to have a more intimate experience with HTML. LOL :P

J’s Blogshop is selling #103 at a non-negotiable $17. Worth: $27.

Check out #104 to learn JavaScript too! If you happen to be interested in purchasing both HTML and JavaScript books together, you’ll get a $5 discount!

#102: Men in White – $30

29 11 2009

Title: MEN IN WHITE – THE UNTOLD STORY OF SINGAPORE’S RULING POLITICAL PARTY
Authors:
Sonny Yap, Richard Lim, Leong Weng Kam
Publisher
: Singapore Press Holdings (SPH) and Marshall Cavendish
Genre: Politics
ISBN: 9789814266246
Retail Price: $42.69

Tip-top condition

Tip-top condition

Men in White is the inside story of one of the world’s most successful political parties-the ruling People’s Action Party of Singapore. With its victory in the 2006 polls, PAP has won 12 successive general elections since it assumed power in 1959. Narrated in three parts, it chronicles the rise, fall, capture, split and rise of a political party which has become synonymous with the spellbinding success of Singapore, and delves into the reasons for its track record and longevity. Part One tells how Lee Kuan Yew and his anglicised associates collaborated with radical Chinese-speaking trade unionist to form a small left-wing party in 1954 to drive out the British colonialists and how they fell out over the issue of merger with Malaya.  Part Two captures the agonies of leadership self-renewal. Part Three wraps up the PAP story by tracing the origins and discussing some of the key principles that characterised Singapore governance.

#102 looks as new as it should be when just opened from the seal because I haven’t even started reading it, nor do I have interest in reading it. Probably those who are interested in politics would find this a great deal. This is a new book so it’s selling outside with discounts, for example $38 in Popular at time of post.

I’d sell this at $30. NEGOTIABLE if you can find very close prices outside. If that’s the case, tell me where you found the offer and I shall do the necessary changes to the price if any.

This book is in tip-top condition, I can’t really “find fault” with it, really. LOL.

#101: Bible with Tabs – $35

28 11 2009
The Bible for $40

The Bible for $40

#101 would be a great buy for Christians who would like to get a temporary Bible while investing in a long-term Bible, or for those who need an alternative Bible for use in camp etc. I’ve gotta admit, you can find Bibles that are much much cheaper. But please be convinced that the Bible is definitely worth more than its price.

This Bible costs $50+ originally. The chapter tabs are affixed by me – they cost $20. So $35 is definitely a good price. NOT NEGOTIABLE.

Features of this Bible:

  • Today’s New International Version (TNIV)
  • Brown leather cover
  • Integrated bookmark
  • Very adhesive book tabs for easier and more efficient browsing especially when listening to sermons
  • Extreme clarity - the elegant serif font used makes verses more readable
  • Does not flip its pages easily (unless with wind) - this Bible isn’t very thick and it has a special bind that keeps your Bible from flipping its pages easily (not like how some dictionaries close itself because of the weight of the pages)
  • Footnotes
  • The words of Jesus Christ in red (in the New Testament)
  • Useful appendices at the back of the Bible include Table of Weights and Measures, Revised Spellings of Proper Names
  • Concordance at the back of the Bible
  • Maps at the back of the Bible

Faults of this Bible, regretfully, include the name of the recipient of this Bible (my name) and date of receipt written on one of the beginning pages, and some yellow highlights on the first few verses of Genesis. I’ve written some comments in pencil on those few verses too, but I would erase them carefully once there’s a confirmed purchase. :)

Otherwise, there are some normal minor creases of some pages due to their thinness.
